Making preparations…

We are preparing for our mission trip to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.  This is the area that was hit the hardest during Hurricane Katrina.  We will be staying at Lakeshore Baptist Church.  The ministry of this church is to help rebuild their community.  You can check out the work they have done in their community by following the link to Lakeshore Baptist Church to the right.  We will be updating this page while on our trip so that you will be able to keep up with us and know what kind of work we are doing.  Please keep us in prayer as we travel and prepare to work to help those who remain homeless.

  1. Hey Mrs. Patti I am so glad you got this for our youth! I am extremely excited about seeing the work yall will be doing since I wont be there :-( . Hugs for everyone. I miss yall so much and am so ready to get back and get started on the things I feel like God is leading me to do in our church. I have big visions for you youth! Get ready! Keep me posted.

  2. Hey,
I found this site http://stephenake.com/pics/gallery/v/Lakeshore/ It has some really neat pictures from the place we are going.

    Check it out!

    Dottie

  3. Gillian-Thanks! Your blog gave me the idea for this one!

Dottie-They do have some neat pictures on that site. I drove through there in March on the way back from Florida. You can still see the damage clearly. It is hard to believe that after this long there are still people without homes, but there are. I am ready for the trip, although my clothes aren’t packed. LOL

  4. Well I’m glad Mrs. Patti. Im sure you read where I have this big vision for the youth and this would be a great way for us to show what all that I picture happening in the next few years when it happens. I will just have to talk to you more about it when I get home. Cant wait to see pics from the trip.

  5. Well, as I sit here waiting to bring the girls to the church to leave for this trip, my mind started to wonder. No comments, Shane. LOL. I hope that my girls learn valuable lessons and meet interesting people on this trip. The youth always come back full of the spirit and tales for wonderful things/people they are done/met. I am looking forward to checking on the progress daily. Remember I love each and every one of you.

  6. Well, I felt “left out” as you drove away from the church. I know I have an exciting adventure ahead of me though. Have a lot of fun and laugh a lot for me. I’ll miss you all! I love you all!! Love you Tucker!

  7. I’ve been checking out the websites that Dottie gave us to look at. The stories and pictures are amazing. I’m so proud of our youth and youth leaders for what they are doing. Be safe. I Love you Haley!

  8. I couldn’t sit and wait for the crew to drive off, because I would have embarassed Sarah by crying. Yet this morning at church I felt the Spirit moving in that church and knew that this mission trip was truly going to be blessed. As I told Sarah, though the ones you are going to help will be grateful and touched, I feel our youth (our church) will get the greatest blessing of all. I wish I was going there with you (crocheting my bags and all), but I will be keeping in touch via messages. Big D, just remember her Father is watching, especially when her parents can’t be there. Love ya Sarah!!

  9. Well, Tambitha read where I felt left out and decided I was down here “all by myself” so she just flitted herself on down here to cheer me up. She brought me loose leaf paper, purple ink pens, pencils with a sharpener and erasers, and a bright yellow report cover. She said, “Just what kind of friend would let me start to school without bringing me school supplies for my first day?” She said the erasers might not work and I told her maybe I wouldn’t be making mistakes. :~) She also said a group of teachers talked more than school children – I told her I would “take names”. We had a great visit on the front porch – then she decided I needed to go to bed. So now I’m going to bed. Good night to all. Good night Tucker, sleep tight, love you, see you in the morning (well, not really, just our every night saying). Love you a bunch!!

  10. I just got back from visiting Mrs. Nena. We are some lonely moms here in Saline. Anne’-Marie, I love you sweetheart and everything is going to be ok. Just talk to God and he will take care of you for me. Remember I love you. Amber, I love you so much. You both be good for Bro. Stan and don’t fall off of any roofs.

    Mom

  11. Hey Gang…I pray ya’ll have a safe and blessed trip…Tambatha, Nena, and Sherri are all telling their children how much they love them…so…I thought I would tell my baby to be careful and that I love him T-H-I-S M-U-C-H-!!! Love You Ken!!! :-)

    Mom

  12. Well gang it is almost midnight, so I guess I will go to bed. I hope you all have a good night sleep.
    Thinking of you all.
    Tambatha

  13. WOW I kinda feel left out all that way down here in Brazil! Nobody comments on my blog like this! :-( just kidding.
Well Claire-Bell my bestest in the whole wide world I love you soooooo much and hate that I cant be there with you! Give her a BIG hug for me somebody! And to my Tucker-Boy I love and miss you to the moon and back! Work hard for the Lord!
and to the Youth Group and Leaders “He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak.” Isaiah 40:29. I know that this is going to be an exhausting trip but remember God is still on his throne and read to give strength to those who are willing to take it.
Love you all and I will see you all when i get back! Only 5 more weeks!

  14. Hey everybody!! It’s Monday morning and I’m at Granny’s place. Claire and Marsha you would be proud of me. I didn’t sleep until 10am this morning. I was up by 8 and at the store by 9:30. I’ve been sitting here reading all these comments (and crying) from moms about how much they miss their babies. Well I miss mine too. I do hope ya’ll have fun and get alot done for this community but more than that for the LORD. Tell Bro. Stan to quit stressing (I know that he is because he always does).HA!! Ya’ll be good and I’ll probably talk with you again. Love to all of you but especially to Claire, Marsha, and Shane. Love ya, Mom(Susieq)

  15. Man there is a lot of people in the picture. Who am I going to talk to this week???? HAHA! I didn’t see Rebekah in the picture.

  16. Well hope you all made the trip safely. I can only imagine the impact you all will have on this community who needs so much help. Working for the lord isn’t always easy but is the most rewarding ever. I love each and every one of you.
Take care and have a safe and blessed trip.

  17. Well,

Are you ready for this. Yes, Tambatha can not leave her house. I went to the doctor this morning feeling good and in tack. Left the doctor’s office with two broke toes. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I broke my toes at my doctor’s visit. So I am not driving either again. LOL Please someone watch out for my girls because they don’t need to end up like their mom. LOL I am praying for you. Amber, be good and don’t be bossy. Anne’-Marie, be careful on the roofs and have fun, live a little girl. Mom will be fine and I will be right here when you get back. Love and prayers. Tambatha

  18. Hi to all:

Yes, we made it last night about 8:50 p.m. Tried to get settled in. The girls had NO air conditioning. It was really hot! Finally at about 11:30 p.m. Greg and Patti went to Wal-Mart! They bought fans (Patti in her pjs). It helped but still uncomfortable but all the girls kept reminding everyone else that we were here to serve selflessly. Today was a good work day with lots of digging, painting, and getting supplies for tomorrow. Lunch stuff had to be purchased (something we were not prepared for) but praise God, there had been a donation given on Sunday that well covered these extra expenses. But we hads a relaxing late afternoon at the beach.

All you mothers, please know that your babies (even Ken) are doing fine. Tambitha, I had wonderful medicine to help Anne’ Marie.

We LOVE the comments. Keep them coming. We will be uploading pictures in a bit.

Nena, hope your day was good. Patti and I are also sitting on a porch right now in rocking chairs typing these messages to you. Almost cried that Tambitha was able to sit on the porch at your house instead of me!!! I’m jealous! And remember, it’s okay to make mistakes, you don’t want to appear “too smart”.

Judy, Susan, Sherry, Sherri, Janice: Thanks for your comments. Coveting your prayers and support!

Gillian: Miss you bunches. I’m sure you would have “enjoyed” the sleeping conditions last night! Wish you here!

P.S. The air conditioner was fixed today! Looking forward to sleep tonight with all the girls good and tired!

    Dottie

  19. Oh, Tambitha, would you please be careful! You need to be able to flit around! LOL

    Stacy,
Thanks for the comment. Will pass it on to Haley who is such a hard worker. She was so excited to be digging today!

    Dottie

  20. OK, Patti. I want to send some pictures to y’all. Just how do I do that? I downloaded them to HPGallery.

  21. Hey ya’ll,

Glad to hear that ya’ll had a good day of hard work. I can’t believe that ya’ll actually got some work out of Shane and Ken. You know they aren’t use to work. Love ya Shane and Ken. Glad the ac is fixed for ya’ll tonight.

I told Mrs. Edna about the lunch ordeal and she immediately started trying to come up with ideas that would help ya’ll, grilling burgers, frozen lasagna, etc. I told her there was plenty adults that could handle all that and that I was going to worry about it.

Marsha, the girls came by the store late this evening after swimming to get a slushy. They were doing good.

Nothing happening in Saline today. Talk with you later.

    Love ya Claire.

Love, Mom Mrs. Susan, Granny, or whatever you want to call me as long as it is nice.

  22. Thanks for the talk Mrs. Dottie. I know the girls are in great hands with all the moms down there. I told Mrs. Nena last night I didn’t know what I was going to do when I needed to just sit and think, because now I have her porch and Mr. Hough’s backyard. It is so nice and peaceful out there. Anne’-Marie, you should see Mr. Madden’s horses, when you get back we will go down and ask him if you can see them. Amber, be chillin’ and I will pray about Friday. LOL

My prayers and thoughts are with you and the way my toes hurt I think I should have went with you. LOL

    Tambatha

  23. Ok. I just sent two pictures. If they are out in space maybe William Shatner will forward them to you. My first day of school was LONG. We went from 9:00 to 2:50. 2 – 10 minute breaks – no lunch break. I will take a banana tomorrow. I went to the bookstore to buy the 3 textbooks and they didn’t have any. They didn’t order any in case the class didn’t make it! I have a really big power point presentation due Weds. – no book!!!!! But I’m not stressing. I’m relaxed and I’m going to bed. I can’t make a book. Our last day will be July 17th because Dr. Johnson (our teacher) will be gone on July 18th. We were supposed to go a few more days. But that is fine with me. She is a very good teacher. Very smart and very experienced. You can tell she was a very good teacher in the public schools. She was a principal and worked for the state dept. too. Well, you have a lot of fun working. I wish I were there. I remember how school really is not that much fun. I don’t have any friends to hang out with – oh, well, we wouldn’t have any time to hang out anyway. Remember Ms. Connie – she will be at W/K Pierremont at 5:30 in the morning. Vernon is going. It is not quite dark but I think I’ll go to bed anyway. I’ve turned into my grandparents after only one day of school!!! :~)
Love you all!!! Love you Tucker!!!

  24. Will the pictures be here where the comments are or will they be somewhere else? Let me know so I can find them and look. susan

    Mom

  29. Just checking in to see if there were any pictures posted. Haley said everyone worked hard today. I enjoy reading all the comments, this is better than talking on the phone. Sherry if you need to talk to someone you can call me. LOL. I got your message today about the goat standing on top of the donkey. That’s so funny! I can’t believe you didn’t have your camera. Have a good day tomorrow Haley. We love and miss you! I hope everyone sleeps tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite!!!

  30. HA HA I BET NOBODY HAS WAITED UP THIS LATE TO CHECK TO SEE THE PICTURES. LOL. ONLY THE VAMPIRES WHO WORK ALL NITE. SORRY YA’LL ARE HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE, BUT WE ARE JUST ANXIOUS. 31. I’m in Baton Rouge, a mission field itself, and just catching up on all the youth news!! Look at all the love in these comments! God has truly blessed. For all the kids whose parents haven’t logged on or sent a message, I’m sending out a Shout of Love!! We are proud of all of you, and girls even without air, the Lord is working. (Sarah you will always appreciate the comforts of AC.) Jessica–I hope you are have a great time and not getting too sunburned. (I don’t want Miss Wanda mad at me!) Big D, you know I love ya!! Keep smiling, because you always bring a smile to my face. Amber-hey girl!! I know you are ready for a fun time always. I really like that about you. Mallory and Haley–just an extension of our family. Oh yea, Dottie–my new best friend, who God has used in my life more than she will ever realize. Some people are just the answer to prayer–Praise be to God! Hearing about digging ditches sounds like we could set up some mission work around Saline too. Love you all and I too will be checking the website after work to see and/or read the latest. Thanks Patti and Dottie for taking the time to keep us all posted. I am so grateful that technology can keep us all just “a push of a button” in touch. Have a great day working for the Lord!!!

  32. Hey Gang:
Hope everything goes a little better today. Hope there is no surprises like it has been the last two days. God will bless you for everything your doing. To all of the moms, hang in there. They’ll be home before you know it and then you’ll be wishing they would find something else to do. :)

    Amber:
Don’t hurt yourself or anything. I need you when you get back :)

    BJ and Anissa:
The kids are doing fine. Kassie cried for a minute the first night when I said it’s bed time. But when I laid down with her she quit crying. Last night she fell asleep in my lap watching TV. Lil BJ was the one to cry last night. At 9:00 he said he was sleepy and went to bed, but when Bert went in to check on him and cover him up he woke up and that’s when he wanted his moma. He cried for about five minutes and then was ok. All in all they have been very good. I can’t believe how easy it is to give Kassie a bath. She’s not afraid of the water getting in her ears or eyes. They are having fun with Jennifer during the day.

    Gillian:
Miss ya and hope you are having fun and being blessed. Heard you were working in an orphanage. Can you sneak one home with you for Bert and I. LOL just kidding. Love ya.

    Angie

  33. Hey everyone! I just found out the web site was up and running. I miss my bunch soooooo much. I miss all of my boys, ( Dylan, Tommy, Tucker, Spencer, Jody,Dakota, and my big boy Ken LOL). It is very quiet around here ( TOO QUIET). I have been praying for yall. I really miss being there with yall. These trips are such a blessing to me. I know God has tremendous plans for each one of you this week and even though the work is hard remember why you are doing it and that God is using you to do his work. I have to go I love yall soooooooo very much.

  34. Well my house was not quiet last night. I had four rough and tough boys here. Timothy, Skylar, Seth, and the Xavier decided that it was to peaceful at my house and they could not have that. I want my peace and quiet back. LOL

I hope today is a great day for the Lord’s word and work.

Thinking of all of you and sending the love.
    Tambatha

  35. Okay, I’m having a meltdown. For those of you who don’t know I left Thursday morning on my anniversary trip, that means it will be eight whole days before i see my girl again. The longest I have ever been is five days. I am missing BROOKE!!! Don’t know how Cheryl does it! Tell Brooke i said hi, I LOVE HER, and to call me when she gets a chance!!! I want to see pictures Patti!!!

    Mary

  36. Oh yeah! One more thing Patti! You know Brooke has never seen the ocean. So if yall go to the beach get a picture of her for me. lol!

    Mary

  37. Hey, gang!

Praying for ya’ll. Sounds like God pitched you a few curve balls but you made a good hit and got on base anyway!

    Keep up the good work.

    Anna

  38. A word of advice: Make sure ya’ll tell Ken that the shovel is a working tool…he thinks it is a “prop stick” to use while napping on the job!!! :-) Hey Son, I Love You!!! My prayers are with you all…

    Janice

  39. Hey ya’ll, I just got back from Wal-Mart. Not a big thrill.

PLEASE keep Claire OUT of chairs and OFF of ladders. She’s as bad as Tambatha at getting hurt.

    Love ya’ll.
    Susan

    P.S. Still waiting on pictures.

  40. hey,

everybody i am bord very very bord.
so i just wanted to say have fun and be careful.

    cheyenne roberts

  41. Mrs. Mary, Im not sure how my mom does it. Surprisingly she has not called me as much as I thought. I do miss my family though. Kin folks and church family. I dont know how Michawn does this.

Angie, I wish I could bring them all home with me. They are so precious. I posted some pictures of Michawns of the Orphanage today. I have not had time to get any of me working with the kids yet but plan on getting some on June 30 so be watching for some more pictures of the orphanage on my blog. I think if you just click on my name out beside this comment it will take you to my blog, but if not Mrs. Patti put a link to it on the home page.

Love you all and miss you!

  42. Another night in Baton Rouge and read that you ate in Port Allen as you went down. Once across the river, I stay across the river. I saw my baby digging the ditch, and I hope she will remember this experience when we start to build our house. The Lord is blessing each drop of sweat done in His name for the love of His people. I’m staying out of trouble, except for doing the Cupid Shuffle at my meeting today, but I know that I would be having a lot more fun with my church family. I can’t wait for some heart to heart talks with details. Dottie–I want to call your cell, but I keep telling myself your working. Waiting until you hear the latest. Say a prayer! Love you all and really enjoyed the pics. Thanks Patti!!

Love to all the youth with hugs and kisses!! Special hug for Big D, hey boo!! Love ya!

  43. I enjoyed the pictures. Tell Haley I hate I didn’t get to talk to her tonight. As soon as I came in from work I had to go pick peas. I’ve just come in from shelling. I’ll check back in tomorrow. Keep up the great work. God bless all of you and good night!

P.S. That ground looks kinda hard.

  44. Sherry Morgan and Anna,
Did you notice that Dottie already has a “new best friend”. She is so fickle!!!
I really miss being on that trip. I have homework, homework, homework! I’ll be finished July 17th though. Just cram it in and I’ll be through. Yesterday was so much fun. She is a wonderful teacher – so many ideas to use in the classroom. Fun ideas to make learning fun.
I miss all my “sons” too. There hasn’t been anyone in my living room floor for a while now.
Well, I woke up too early. I’m going back to bed for a little while. Hope you are getting a lot accomplished and having fun while doing it.
Love you Tucker. You too Amanda. See y’all when you get home.
    Love,
    Nena

  45. Good morning MBC Youth:
Research states that the average teenager needs at least 9 1/2 hours of sleep daily. How in the world are you getting all of those youth up and functioning every morning?!? Maybe this is a fallacy. I hope today is another great day for you all, and for each hardship and mishap I hope that God will show you the blessing in each situation. Nena–I hope you have a great day at school, and remember that I wanted to be your sister-in-law but you didn’t fight hard enough for me (I see that smile!) I need to study for the Early Childhood Praxis, so I feel your pain.
Another day filled with joy and wonder,
    Sherri

  46. Good morning gang,

Well Timothy decided to come home this morning, don’t know how long that will last. Mrs. Nena, if he reads that you need a boy sleeping on your living room floor he will be there in a heart beat. KellyAnn, sorry to hear about the jellyfish bite. But I know your pain… Girls, I love you both and I am so proud of you. Anne’-Marie, I told Daddy about the jellyfish and he said that it didn’t bite you because it didn’t want to get hurt. LOL Amber the dishes are waiting. LOL

    Still sending the love,
    Tambatha

  47. well, finally, i got to talk to two of my girls last nite!! (Brooke & Mallory). I guess somebody really does love me!! Brianna if you are seeing this, you haven’t called your other mama yet. lol! Tell Tucker I still love him too plus everybody else. We are so blessed to have a youth group like we do. They really stick together! I enjoyed having them over for Brooke’s birthday as much as she did!!! Tell everyone I said hello. much love. Mrs. Nena i’m so proud of you.. going back to school and all… we need to catch up soon. You are one of my favorite people… love you so much! Gillian if you are reading this, I miss and love you too!!!!!!

  48. Mrs. Dottie,

if you get a chance go to crosswalk.com, look at the left side and go down to video, click it. These are some great “mini” videos. Love the one called gift of worship. Thought ya’ll might could use them during your devotion time. This is one of my favorite websites. Really good. Talk to ya soon.

    mary

    Susan

  51. Hey Ya’ll…Glad everyone is surviving the Mississippi sun!!! Eathon SO wanted to go with ya’ll, but, after seeing the work pics he decided summer school ain’t SO bad after all!!! :-)

Colton is in the hospital…had an episode on the bus this afternoon…turned out to be an allergic reaction. He is better, but, really had everyone scared for a while…the ER personnel at Jackson Parish Hospital was “hopping” there for a while!!! The doc said that if it had not been for the quick thinking and fast actions of me, Bonnie and Eileen things may not have turned out as well. Please remember him in prayer.

Tomorrow is the last day of LEAP…please continue to pray for these young ‘uns about that. Colton will finish his on Friday if everything goes well for him…if not, he will finish on Monday.
